A significantly different breed of Hummer appeared in the form of a 2003 model. Using the same design as the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban full-size SUVs, the H2 is 5.3 inches narrower than the Hummer H1 Alpha model. Instead of four people like the H1 Alpha, the less expensive H2 accommodates up to six people and promises an easier ride and greater comfort.

The 6.0-liter eight-cylinder H2 engine produces 325 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. Luxury interior and Special Edition package available in 2006. A stainless steel protective casing and a touch-screen navigation system are optional. General Motors' standard OnStar communication system has analog and digital coverage and advanced hands-free capabilities.

Much more civilized than the H1, the driving experience of the Hummer H2 is no different from other large SUVs. Handling is not bad, and the H2 has a good steering feel and feedback. The H2 rides tighter than most cars, but this is tolerable even for regular cars.
