Ford's successful pony car continued in 1967 with a completely new sheet metal, enlarged grille and deeper side scallops.
The front suspension of the Mustang was equipped with independent levers with screw springs and a stabilizer bar. At the rear, the solid rear axle was supported by semi-elliptical leaf springs. The frame and wheelbase remained the same - 2.74 m., but the total length increased to 4.66 m.
Inside, the twin cove dashboard received a thicker airbag and enlarged sensors. The new safety regulations approved by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration include four-position emergency flashing lights, softer interior handles, as well as an energy-absorbing steering column and steering wheel. Also, a two-circuit hydraulic braking system was added to the Ford Mustang.
