In 2005, Chrysler took advantage of its alliance with Mercedes-Benz (during which the company was known as DaimlerChrysler) to once again bring something a little different to its showrooms. It was the Chrysler 300, a full-size rear-wheel drive sedan built on a platform based on Mercedes-Benz technology. Its front-engine and rear-wheel drive layout was unique, as rear-wheel drive became a rarity for mid-range cars. The Model 300 shared its architecture with the Dodge Charger and Magnum sedan and station wagon introduced in 2006, and then with the Challenger coupe.

However, at first glance, the 300c's biggest calling card was its ostentatious styling with a huge grille and massive styling that resembled a Bentley or Rolls-Royce more than an upscale American family car.

The Chrysler 300C is extremely cute, has a character noticeable in every detail, and is a welcome breath of fresh air in a market dominated by soulless German practicality.
